The Technology Assistance Division of the Southwest Public Safety Technology Center (SWTC) is based in Austin at the headquarters of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas (SAT). It operates under a cooperative agreement between UH and SAT and provides direct technology assistance to any qualified public safety agency in Texas. It also contributes to other SWTC initiatives. solutions.

The TA Division has already collaborated with the T&E Division and established two test beds at the Texas-Mexico border. It has also participated in hurricane relief efforts in the aftermaths of the Katrina and Rita hurricanes .
