Federal Resources

• National Institute of Justice: List of Publications (dating back to the late 1990's), NIJ Technology and Research page .
• NIJ publishes their list of web resources related to the NIJ portfolio areas.
• The National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) (also known as Justice Technology Information Network) provides a searchable virtual library about public safety technologies, an event calendar, and info about funding sources. NLECTC also provides information about testing . They publish testing results about various technologies, conduct testing on new equipment and provide information about NLECTC test laboratories.
• The DOJ has several research groups, including the Bulletproof Vest Partnership/Body Armor Safety Initiative.
• Dept of Homeland Security: Research, Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Mailing List
• Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is a federal agency with similar goals for improving law enforcement. It runs special programs, offers a Law Enforcement Training Database and focuses on eight key justice areas. BJA has a publication list and in the past has administered several Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) programs.

Texas-specific Resources

• The Law Enforcement Analysis Portal program (LEAP) provides informational resources about intergovernance issues and public safety. "The project assists local law enforcement agencies by implementing an interjurisdictional shared information program, thus improving crime and link analysis, and case closures.". This is run by the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
• Texas Homeland Security, an information site for Texans.
• Local/crime reporting in Texas newspapers: Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express News, Dallas News and Austin-American Statesman.
• Texas Blogs with reporting on the Texas criminal justice system: Grits for Breakfast , Texas Observer Blog , Off the Kuff.

• Texas A&M's Integrative Center for Homeland Security publishes many resources related to public safety: TEX, an organized taxonomy of public safety resources, and , general list of electronic resources.
