Training and education is an important goal of the Southwest Public Safety Technology Center (SWTC). In some cases, when SWTC provides technology assistance, that also means providing training (See Computer 101).

At the moment, SWTC is considering other formal education programs. Discussions are currently underway for University of Houston (in conjunction with SWTC) to start a formal master's program in public safety engineering leadership . At the moment, no definite decisions or commitments have been made.

SWTC often has reason to team up with educational institutions when launching a technology initiative. See this list of SWTC academic partners .
